Calling all Irish, by heritage or in spirit! We are challenging you to “Forever Be Irish”. Join the Irish American Club of Johnson County for the 33rd annual Shawnee St. Pat’s Parade for Sunday, March 15, 2015 and accept the challenge. This year’s theme is “Forever Be Irish”.
This year’s theme, Forever Be Irish will give you plenty of opportunity to explore your creative side to design a great float or marching unit. You will want to start planning early so you can score some Irish green in the form of Cash Prizes, which are available in several categories. Entry forms will be available at City Hall, and at www.irishamericanclub.org. This year’s $10 entry fee will help fund our donation to the Shawnee Police and Fire Department’s Hero’s Pull, which benefits Kansas Special Olympics.
Parade line-up begins at 11:30 a.m. at Johnson Drive and Monrovia. The parade begins at 1:00 p.m. and proceeds down Johnson Drive from Monrovia east to Nieman Road. The awards ceremony is held immediately after the parade at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 11221 Johnson Drive. Winners must be present to pick up their plaques and cash prizes. Be sure to plan to spend extra time in Downtown Shawnee to enjoy a hearty breakfast at one of the restaurants along the parade route, an Irish corned beef and cabbage lunch at the Knights Hall, or some shopping at one of Shawnee’s unique Downtown merchants. Don’t forget to pick up one of our Parade Shirts along the parade route. The Hero Pull, immediately following the parade in the Splash Cove parking lot, is the perfect post parade activity! You can end the day rooting for your winning Duck in the Sister Cities Duck Race.
The parade is sponsored by the Irish American Club of Johnson County and the Shawnee St. Patrick’s Parade Committee. For additional information email email@example.com.
